50MHz UKAC 2019

The results of the December  50MHz UKAC are presented below.  Once again meteors provided a boost to the scores of those stations with MS capability. Otherwise conditions were very flat.

Annual Summary

Looking at the number of logs received, this year was somewhat lower than in 2018 with the numbers received ranging from 110 in December  to 160 in January/February, versus a range of 131 to 185 last year. The numbers entering the AL and AR sections have decreased (by 7% and 16%), but the AO entry level has increased by 17%. The total number of entries has also declined at 392 vs 424 last year. Perhaps high noise levels are discouraging entrants and driving an increase in power to compensate.

The 807 ARO group again repeated their leading position in the General Club section by a substantial margin, with Wirral and District ARC moving up to take second place, just ahead of the Drowned Rats RG.

It was also deja vu in the Local Club section, with Hereford Amateur Radio Society again taking top slot, Worksop Amateur Radio Society moved up a place from last year to achieve the runner up slot, and Tall Trees CG takes third place.

The leaders in AO section were a repeat of last year, with David G4ASR in top place and David, GI4SNA, in runner up position. Chris & Pauline G4FZN/P moved into the AO section and took third in this year's table.

In  the AR Section Pete G4CLA achieved the maximum possible score from eight session wins, with runner up Anthony G7LRQ/P. Third place goes to Dave G3TBK/P. James 2E0OUT receives a certificate as leading Intermediate entrant in this section.

The AL section winner is again Steve G1YBB/P with eight session wins. For the third year Steve G0EAK/P was the runner up. Denis G3UVR was the third placed station. The highest placed intermediate station was again John 2E0DXK(/P).  Mary  M6KMB also repeats last year's result as the highest placed foundation class entrant.

An award for the station providing the most entrants with their best DX goes to David GI4SNA again, who was best DX on 313 occasions.

Congratulations to all those listed, who receive certificates.

The first 50MHz UKAC of 2020 takes place on Thursday 13th January at 20:00 GMT.
